Tampons are usually made from rayon which is commonly chlorine-bleached and is a highly absorbent fibre which rapidly absorbs menstrual blood but at the same time can also dry out the natural protective mucous lining of the vagina. Since a woman may use up to 11,000 tampons in her lifetime, it makes sense to avoid rayon! Natracare Tampons and Cottons Tampons are made only from cotton.

Dioxin, a toxic carcinogen, is a by-product of all chlorine bleaching methods. Dioxin collects in the fatty tissues of animals, including humans and published scientific reports have shown that even low levels of dioxins may be linked to cancer, endometriosis, low sperm counts and immune system suppression.

Natracare tampons are made from only certified organic 100% cotton. They are non-chlorine bleached (so dioxin free) and do not contain synthetics or chemical additives. Organic cotton does not contain the pesticide residues used on traditional cotton.

Applicator Tampons, in Regular and Super have a rounded, petal-shaped end that makes inserting the tampon easier. The applicator is made from biodegradable card. Tampons without applicators, are available in Regular, Super and Super Plus.
