The ‘Inspiration Awards' for women are to be held this October 7 at Cadogan Hall in London. The awards highlight talented, aspirational and successful women working to improve the lives of others. Most nominees have confronted significant challenges to achieve what they have to date, be it overcoming breast cancer, campaigning to fight child poverty or pushing for improved environmental policies and these awards celebrate their contribution to society. In association with the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the awards will be co-hosted by June Sarpong and Amanda Mealing. Tickets are available from £49 and you will get more than a few congratulatory speeches on stage. Over the course of the night the classical songstresses All Angels will perform as will opera singer Sean Raune and singer Belle Humble.

Working Title Films (makers behind Bridget Jone's Diary) have donated two walk-on film parts that will be auctioned at the awards and dress designer Veni Infantino (of Ronald Joyce) will give one successful bidder the chance to create their very own designer dress.

Oh and here's one for the organic movement - anti-pesticides campaigner, Georgina Downs, has been nominated in the inspirational non-celebrity category. Other nominees include Kylie Minogue, Dame Anita Roddick and Angelina Jolie.
